US Dept. of Ed. Wants Your Opinion on Education Reform. DEADLINE: June 1st.

The U.S. Department of Education is pushing an Education Reform agenda called The Respect Project. They would like you to download the pdf. and take a 5 question survey.  This is a chance for your voice to be heard.  The survey deadline is June 1, 2012.I went ahead and pulled some main ideas from the 8 page pdf.  The bold type information is from the pdf.  The italicized information below is my own opinion and questions that came to mind from what I read.  I found that after reading this, I was left with more questions than suggestions.  Please use your own judgment and let your voice be heard.

Here is the link:http://www.njcty.com/respect-project.html

(If the yellow survey does not show up, make sure you have downloaded the pdf. and check to make sure your pop up windows are not blocked.)

TEACHNJ ACT  S-1455

As you may already know there is a new bill which will be up for discussion in Trenton this Monday, March 5th.  The bill, TEACHNJ ACT  S-1455, is commonly referred to as “Tenure Reform.” As it currently stands, this bill eliminates due process. Volunteers Needed for FIT Night

March 6, 2012

The MEEA will be holding it’s annual FIT night on May 16th.  The purpose of FIT, or Family Involvement Training, is to help parents gain tips or tools to use with their children.

This year’s theme is “ways to retain Math skills over the summer. We will have 2 tables per grade level parents can visit to learn games and activities they can play with their children at home to reinforce Math skills.

We need teachers to run each table. You can run a table by yourself or with a grade level colleague. We need each grade and building represented.

Please see your Senior Building Rep for more information and to volunteer.
